Delete your account

You can delete your Outish account and the personal data associated with it at any time. Here's how, and exactly what happens to your information.
Option 1 — Delete in the app
The fastest way to delete your account:
- Open Outish and go to Profile → Settings.
- Tap Delete account.
- Confirm. Your account and associated personal data are scheduled for deletion right away.
Option 2 — Request deletion by email
If you can't access the app, email us from the phone number or email on your account:

Subject: Account deletion request. Include the phone number associated with your account so we can verify it's you. We'll confirm and complete the deletion, typically within 30 days.
What gets deleted
When your account is deleted, we remove or permanently de-identify:
- Your profile (name, handle, photo) and phone number.
- Your friend connections and friend requests.
- Your broadcasts and any associated location data (active broadcasts are closed and removed).
- Your push notification tokens and in-app preferences.
- Hashed contact identifiers used for friend matching.
What may be retained, and why
A limited amount of information may be kept after deletion where we're legally required to or where it's necessary for legitimate, narrow purposes:
- Billing records. Subscription and transaction records held by our payment processor (Stripe) may be retained to meet financial, tax, and legal obligations.
- Verification records. A minimal record that an identity was verified may be retained for fraud prevention and to enforce bans against re-registration. Identity-verification documents and biometric processing are handled by Stripe Identity under its retention policies.
- Safety & legal. Information needed to comply with the law, resolve disputes, or enforce our Terms (for example, records relating to a serious abuse report).
Retained data is limited to what's necessary and is not used to rebuild your profile or contact you for marketing.
Things to know before you delete
- Deletion is permanent — your account can't be recovered, and you'd need to sign up and verify again to return.
- If you subscribed through the Apple App Store or Google Play, deleting your account does not automatically cancel that subscription. Cancel it in your App Store or Google Play account settings to stop future charges.
